Borger's Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is a full-time position and maintains the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Borger EOC is equipped with radar systems, direct communications with the Amarillo NWS, radio systems, siren activation consoles, and area camera systems for monitoring weather events.
The City of Borger is honored to have been awarded numerous recognitions for its efforts to protect the community. These include Storm Ready by the National Weather Service, FireWise Community by the National Fire Protection Association, National Wildfire Urban Interface Award, and Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador.
Staff includes a dedicated emergency manager, the Borger Fire Marshal's Office, and Hutchinson County's Emergency Management. Emergency Managers are State Certified Police Officers and Arson Investigators. Additional certifications and training include extensive work in wildland fire mitigation and response.
