Utilities Department

The Utilities Department is responsible for maintaining a plentiful supply of safe drinking water at an adequate pressure. We are rated as a "Superior Public Water System" by the state. Our water comes from water wells in Hutchinson, Carson and Roberts Counties. Currently, our tap water contains approximately 100% well water. We produce 3.1 billion gallons of water annually with 67% being sold to local industry. Our Water Treatment Plant and State Certified Drinking Water Analysis Lab is located at 1800 S. Florida St.

The Utilities Department is also responsible for collecting and treating the wastewater produced in Borger. 28 pumping stations transfer the wastewater to the Treatment Plant where it is cleaned using a biological process. We treat approximately 1.3 million gallons of wastewater per day with more than 90% of the clean water being sold to industry for cooling purposes. Our Wastewater
Treatment Plant is located at 1302 W. Third St.

Tours of either facility are welcome and can be arranged by calling the office of the Director of Utilities at (806) 273-0963.
